Assist in selecting suppliers and issue purchase orders for automotive parts and initial production requirements; investigate alternative methods of manufacture, value engineering, assessing vendor capabilities and attaining optimum price, quality, terms and delivery objectives with respect to raw materials and sub-parts used in the company's automotive component manufacturing operations; initiate requests to quote, review and summarize quotes; monitor and report on purchasing information such as cost and availability of parts for new products; create and maintain database of vendors; analyze product design, materials, and methods, and develop projections for standardization and substitution, cost variance, supplier performance measurement, and price.
